On the Ground
Beyond Trees
Increase in Employment
70,000+ man-days of employment created annually, offering steady wages and skill-building for local workers.
Transfer of Skills
Local laborers are trained in scientific plantation techniques — from nursery and soil care to pest and plant management — empowering them for long-term careers in forestry.
Sustainance of Nurseries
Over half a million seedlings nurtured annually, ensuring genetic quality, high survival rates, and sustainable expansion.
Scale of Operations
Precise land preparation, mechanized ploughing, and irrigation systems increase efficiency while conserving resources.
Our plantations are living laboratories where science and tradition merge. Every sapling planted is part of a larger system that supports climate action, ecological balance, and rural livelihoods.
- Founded Leadership: Board led by Amin Lakhani, Afzal Patel and Rupesh Shah — with decades of entrepreneurial experience and a shared commitment to green growth.
- Scientific Backbone: Our plantations are guided by forestry experts like Dr. K. C. Chacko (teak) and Dr. Ananatha (sandalwood), ensuring management is rooted in science and aligned with industry best practices.
- Institutional Partnerships: Collaborations with Tanzanian Tree Seed Agency and Sokoine University of Agriculture, ensuring cutting-edge forestry research informs our work.

Our Plantantions at a Glance
Carbon Planet Ltd. (CPL) is pioneering in sustainable forestry in Tanzania, with large-scale teak and sandalwood plantations designed to capture carbon, regenerate land, and create long-term value with teak and sandalwood.
1,300 acres (520 hectares) of teak plantations under active management (as of March 2021)
500,000+ seedlings raised annually, ensuring constant expansion and sustainability of our plantations
Estimated sequestration potential: 1 hectare of mature teak can capture up to 10–15 tons of CO2 every year, meaning CPL’s current plantations have the potential to offset 5,000–7,500 tons of CO2 annually
Species Focus: Teak (high-value timber with a lifecycle of 20–25 years) and Sandalwood (medicinal, cultural, and premium aromatic uses with a 15–20 year maturity cycle)
